Meet some of the great people you could soon be seeing in the neighborhood:
Paul Nordeman, MHA, NHA
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Paul took the helm at Meadowood in March 2007. He has more than 26 years of progressive experience in the healthcare field with extensive experience in financial and healthcare operations. Prior to coming to Meadowood, his immediate past positions were Executive Director of Moravian Village of Bethlehem for three years, Vice President and Nursing Home Administrator at the Philadelphia Protestant Home for three years and divisional controller at Holy Redeemer Health System for 15 years prior to that. As founding Executive Director of Moravian Village of Bethlehem, Paul was instrumental in successfully opening the community, recruiting a management team and designing its healthcare operations.
Paul holds a Master of Health Administration from the University of St. Francis and a Bachelor of Science degree from Temple University. He is licensed as a nursing home administrator (NHA) in Pennsylvania and serves as a faculty member at the Institute for Continuing Education and Research.
Paul enjoys spending his free time with his wife, Susan, and their four children, Paul, Carlyn, Daniel, and Kimberly, as well as coaching, reading and golf.
Lois Rothenberger
Director of Finance

Lois was born and raised in Philadelphia and attended Drexel University for both undergraduate and graduate school. She has worked in non-profit organizations her entire career - first in local government (Lower Merion Township), and then nearly two decades in senior living. She started her career in senior living after having served as a Board Member of a retirement community for ten years. Lois worked at Presby’s Inspired Life and Wesley Enhanced Living before joining Meadowood in 2002. “I chose Meadowood because of its tradition of excellent and innovative leadership and warm personal relationships. I have come to also appreciate its unique attention to the individual and the beautiful park-like campus.” She has served on a number of boards including the Southeastern Pennsylvania Association of Non-Profit Homes for the Aging (SEPANPHA), the Appalachian Mountain Club, Northwest Interfaith Movement and the Stratton Funds. When not at Meadowood, Lois and her husband, Alan, enjoy being outdoors - hiking, orienteering, fly-fishing and canoeing.
Ken Workman
Director of Plant Operations
Ken holds a bachelor degree in education from West Chester State College, and a Bachelor of Social Services from the University of Mississippi, in addition to a Master in Business Administration - Health Care, from Century University. He has 25 years of facilities management experience.
After serving for four years in the US Navy, Ken was Director of Campus Service for Tupelo Children's Mansion in Tupelo, Mississippi, as Associate Administrator for Rockford Center in Newark Delaware, and Director of Facilities Management at Shipley Manor, in Wilmington Manor. For the past three years, Ken has been employed by Erickson Retirement Communities, first as Director of General Services for Maris Grove, in Glen Mills, PA, and subsequently as the Northeast Director of General Services.
At Maris Grove, Ken successfully managed the start-up of the community, moving more than 700 residents into their new homes within a year. As the Regional Director of General Services, he has been assisting other new Erickson communities with the same process. Ken said that he is looking forward to returning to a single CCRC site, so he can stay better connected with residents and staff. Ken lives in Avondale, with his wife and mother. As Ken told us, "I run my own CCRC, with one resident: my mother!"
Barbara J. Beatrice, SPHR
Director of Human Resources
Barbara Beatrice, Director of Human Resources, was one of the earliest employees of Meadowood, hired in 1988 as the first residents were moving in. She has a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, from West Chester University, and is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). Prior to joining Meadowood, she was employed by the Brandywine Conservancy and Brandywine River Museum in Chadds Ford. Barbara lives in nearby Eagleville with her husband Chris. Their daughters Melanie and Grace, are employed in Meadowood's Dining Service department. Barbara is an avid equestrian and enjoys touring foreign countries on horseback with a group of professional women who are longtime friends. Barbara remarked, "Over the past 20 years, Meadowood has become very much a part of who I am. The mission of our community is deeply important to me and the people who choose to live and work here make it an exceptional place to be."
Carol Luther, MEd, NHA, CASP
Director of Health Services

Carol Luther has served Meadowood since 2004. She is responsible for the oversight of Health Services including: personal and skilled nursing care, home health agency, clinical care with outpatient therapy services, wellness, recreational and chaplaincy programs in Meadowood’s continuing care retirement community. Carol represents Meadowood as a frequent spokesperson in the larger community, industry associations, and for related advocacy issues. Carol holds a Bachelor of Arts with Highest Honors & Program Distinction and a Certificate in Gerontology from Stockton College; a Masters of Adult Education and Master’s Certificate in Gerontology from Temple University. She is a certified as an Aging Services Professional by the University of North Texas and as a Personal Care Home Administrator by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She is also licensed by the Commonwealth as a Nursing Home Administrator. Carol’s experience working in a diversity of aging services spans 25 years.

Gareth Williams
Director of Dining Services
Gareth was born and raised in Reading, England and studied at the University of Bristol where he received a bachelor's degree in French and German. During that time, Gareth also studied at the University of Montpelier, France and at the University of Graz, Austria.
After finishing university Gareth joined the Savoy Hotel Group in London and spent the next two years learning all the aspects of the hotel industry, rubbing shoulders from time to time with occasional celebrity customers such as Tony Curtis, Barbara Streisand, the Aga Khan and the Prince of Wales.
In the summer of 1982, Gareth married an American lady whom he had met while studying abroad. A year later, Gareth moved to the United States with his wife, Jerri and started a position as a restaurant manager with Hyatt Hotels.
One of the highlights of his career was when Gareth was asked to join the opening team as the Room Service manager at the new Four Seasons Hotel, Philadelphia where he spent the next two and a half years working with a very discriminating Philadelphia clientele.
In 1986, Gareth left the hotel business because he wanted to spend more time with his new baby daughter, Holly. He joined Culinary Services Network, a contract food service provider to several retirement communities in the area, and embarked on a long career providing dining services to the senior living community which has taken him to his current position as Director of Dining Services at Meadowood.
Gareth resides in Towamencin Township with his wife and two daughters and in his free time enjoys cooking, birding and creating a colonial garden at his home.
Melissa Rosenberg,
Health Center Administrator (NHA)

Having joined Meadowood as Health Services Administrator in 2007, Melissa has been impressed with the beauty of the campus, both inside and out. “The residents and staff are a unique group of people that demonstrate their dedication to the community in which they live and work. This commitment is highlighted as you walk throughout the campus. This is clearly the reason I chose to work at Meadowood.”
Melissa received her undergraduate degree from Temple University in Social Work and a Certificate in Gerontology. She earned a Master of Social Services from Bryn Mawr College. Her nursing home career began in social work and admissions, and she later became licensed as a Nursing Home Administrator and worked in the private sector. Prior to coming to Meadowood, she managed a free-standing nursing home and personal care unit for five years.
Melissa’s greatest joy in life is her two boys. She enjoys playing sports with them and spending time outdoors.
Marcie Mancuso
Director of Fund Development
Marcie joined Meadowood with 30 years of experience in fundraising and public relations, serving organizations such as the Pennsylvania Lung Association, the Easter Seal Society, Bartram’s Garden, Montgomery County Foundation. Prior to Meadowood, Marcie was the development officer for Holy Redeemer Health System for 18 years. Through the implementation of highly successful marketing strategies, she established a regional program involving boards, auxiliaries, long term care residents, management staff, and professional communities and delivered a charitable gift annuity program, case statements for endowment programs, bequest and seminar programs, and established a Planned Giving Advisory Council and Committee. In her tenure at Holy Redeemer, she raised millions of dollars for the organization.
A Certified Fund Raising Executive with the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Marcie holds an associate degree from Bucks County Community College, and additional credits from LaSalle University. She is Immediate Past President of the Planned Giving Council of Greater Philadelphia, Co-Founder and Member of Leave A Legacy for Greater Philadephia Area, a Member of the Philadelphia and Montgomery County Estate Planning Councils, and member of the National Committee on Planned Giving.
Holliday Hammond, Executive Assistant

Holly has been with Meadowood since 2002, and enjoys the diversity and challenge her position offers. She works with the Executive Director and supports the managers with special projects as needed. She also manages the Front Desk with a staff of five, is the administrative office manager and Meadowood’s Notary Public. Holly said, “the most rewarding and main reason I came to Meadowood was to interact with and help residents as much as I can. This is the best aspect of my job.”
Holly retired after 22 years at the School District of Philadelphia, where she started as a buyer in the Purchasing Department, moved up to Supervisor and then to Manager in the Transportation Department. After a foundation in high school at Germantown Friends, she went on to Wheaton College, in Massachusetts, and graduated from Temple University with a BA in Psychology.
In her spare time, Holly’s passion is traveling, with design and decorating a close second. She also loves continuing education, kayaking, bicycling, reading, theatre & movies, gardening and going to the beach especially if she can do any of the above with friends or her two daughters!
