Mother Nature and Meadowood's Staff You would be hard-pressed to find a community campus as beautiful as ours, with endless stands of trees, bursts of flowers and plants, choruses of birds, an outstanding staff, strong sustainability and recycling programs, and interested, active residents. We have been famous for our grounds since the beginning, and all take great pride in making the semi-rural Meadowood experience so rich and inspiring. In 2009, the Meadowood campus was recognized by the Philadelphia Horticultural Society for its' stunning beauty.
Our residential areas abound with personal gardens, and the community Victory Garden's thirty enthusiasts maintain flowers, fruits, a bumper crop of vegetables and ornamental trees! Horticulturalist Patti Loughridge HTA and her acclaimed Grounds Department staff of six not only impeccably maintain our grounds, but also design, build, install and maintain gardens, planters, and personal areas for residents. She has strongly promoted environmental sustainability and recycling throughout campus. Under her direction, Meadowood offers a number of therapeutic programs to help residents "get their hands dirty," and we are developing garden areas that provide increased access to nature's bounty and benefits.
Patti Loughridge
Horticulturist

Patti joined Meadowood in January 2005. After graduating from Temple University’s Ambler Campus with a degree in Landscape Design, she spent 17 years working in the Interior Landscaping business taking care of tropical foliage plants in various businesses, malls, hotels, and private residents. With a desire to expand her career options, she started her own business, Patti Loughridge Horticultural Services. During the next four years she was a private gardener to more than 30 residents in Bucks, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties. But when the opportunity to work at Meadowood presented itself, it was an opportunity that she could not pass up.
In 2007, Patti received credentials from the American Horticultural Therapy Association (AHTA) as a Horticultural Therapy Assistant (HTA). In 2008, she earned a certificate in Horticultural Therapy from Temple University.
When Patti is not at work, her hobbies include gardening, cooking, entertaining, travel, and being a ‘mom’ to Cashew and Peanut, two abandoned kittens rescued from a snowstorm at Meadowood. “Working at Meadowood is genuinely an enjoyable and rewarding experience, because I am working at what I love to do,” Patti said.
