High-Level Honor for North Wales Woman

Lois Rothenberger of North Wales earned recent recognition for completing a 12-year effort to climb all the peaks 3,500 feet or higher in the Catskill Mountains. Most of this hiking was done as a leader of the Appalachian Mountain Club.
Rothenberger is director of finance at Meadowood, a retirement community in Worcester. She began peak climbing in 1994, when she and her sister hiked 191 miles across the width of England, going over substantial peaks from the North Sea to the Irish Sea.
“I realized I had to do some more of that at home because I loved it so much,” she recalls.
