Part of the Meadowell philosophy includes special events that touch on all dimensions of wellness. Below are some examples of some recent special events enjoyed by our residents.
A joyous evening of spreading cheer, reflecting on the year and coming together as a community. Our staff lights candles and travels through the courtyards singing Christmas carols. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the holiday season.
Annual Turkey Trot
This event is an opportunity to give back and come together as a community. Participants donate canned food items to a local food bank, wear their best turkey apparel and even design floats! Together we walk/run/jog the perimeter road and give medals and celebrate by indulging in donuts and cider.
St. Patrick’s Day Scavenger Hunt
This event is open to the whole community. Teams of two dress in green, compete in challenges and a hunt for items around the campus.
Themed Courtyard Cocktail Parties
Under the Sea, the Roaring ‘20s and Hawaiian Luau are just a few of the themes. This traveling happy hour has us touring through the courtyards with a specialty beverage, themed music, dancing, and trivia. A big hit with our residents!
Active Aging Week
Every year, we spend a week in October celebrating the joy of healthy aging. The days are filled with introductions to new classes, guest instructors and wellness classes highlighting all six dimensions.
National Senior Health & Fitness Day
Always held the last Wednesday in May, National Senior Health & Fitness Day is the nation’s largest annual health and wellness event for older adults. We take this opportunity to host new, innovative events and activities for our residents.
A morning stretch in the Fitness Courtyard; group meditation by the fountain; a Story Walk on the perimeter trail featuring a short story by Agatha Christie; a Women, Wine and Wellness event to learn how to maintain your bone health; A Brews and Bros get-together to talk about men’s health issues; and monthly discussion groups on timely topics. These are just a few of our Wellness Events.
Family Feud, Name that Tune, and The Dating Game are just some of the live game shows we have hosted here on campus. Our residents love the social opportunity to participate in some light-hearted entertainment and connect with each other in a fun, energetic way.
