Our expert chefs manage to meet our residents’ dietary requirements … and exceed their expectations.

Meet The Chef

A graduate of the prestigious Culinary Institute, Executive Chef Matthew Doman wore his chef’s hat at area favorites Bay Pony Inn and William Penn Inn before bringing his talents to Meadowood. His love affair with all things culinary began in high school, when he worked at a bakery, doing everything from washing pots to cleaning floors. Today, while he oversees an executive sous chef, sous chef, sous chef in training and 10 other staff members, you still can find him washing dishes when needed. “I’m in the trenches with them,” he says.

Chef Doman perfected his craft around the world: the Caribbean, Switzerland, Nantucket, Bar Harbor. Influences from global cuisines can be found in his culinary creations. A recent special event had a “France in the summertime” theme, with dishes and wine pairings from different regions: seafood for Normandy, quiche for Burgundy, buckwheat crepes for Burgundy, foie gras for Alsace, bouillabaisse for Provence, and madeleines and other decadent desserts for Paris in Ile-de-France.

What sets Meadowood apart from other senior living communities is bringing in staff with restaurant experience. The dining experience reflects that, with a la carte options like you’d find in the finest establishments. In the main dining room you can choose from daily specials and much more.
